Chris Owens is an Account Supervisor at kglobal who currently works with the U.S. Navy Office of Information (CHINFO) at the Pentagon. At CHINFO, Chris monitors the media to produce daily news clips and an analysis that gets distributed to Navy flag officers.
Prior to joining the kglobal team, Chris worked on the Colombia Desk in the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs at the Department of State. Chris closely monitored Colombian media and attended meetings with Colombian officials and non-governmental organizations, keeping stakeholders informed over developments concerning the implementation of Colombia’s historic peace accord with the FARC. Chris also conducted research on behalf of a Colombian think tank in Bogota that helped anticipate the challenges Colombia currently faces after the signing of the accord. Chris graduated with a BA in political science from the University of Indianapolis and a BA in Spanish from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. Chris earned his Master’s in Latin American Studies at Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service. While at Georgetown, Chris extensively studied citizen security, counternarcotics policy, and conflict resolution with a focus on Colombia.
One last thing… Years of balancing school, full time work, and internships—along with a healthy dose of procrastination—turned Chris into practiced speed reader, which really helps him process the hundreds of news articles he reads a night for CHINFO.
